For the fourth consecutive year, the CMO Barometer - an international survey carried out among 835 marketing managers (CMOs) spread across 11 countries, including Luxembourg - has just closed and its results have been revealed in Luxembourg. The analysis highlights crucial strategic issues for marketing leaders. This online survey invites all MarkCom decision-makers to share their opinion on current industry trends and those that will accelerate in the coming months. Following the success of previous editions, the survey is now considered as “THE” barometer describing the challenges faced by marketing.

The results in short

What will be the key marketing trends of 2025? Will marketing budgets shrink or, on the contrary, increase? What skills will be essential for marketing teams?

The main lessons from the CMO 2025 Barometer:

  • Artificial intelligence (AI) is emerging as an essential subject. After being the big trend of 2024, AI is confirmed as one of the major topics for 2025.

  • AI and emotional intelligence, a winning duo. Trust in brands with emotional resonance remains strong. Marketing success in 2025 will require a subtle alliance between AI and emotional intelligence.

  • Multiple challenges for CMOs. CMOs will face significant challenges simultaneously, requiring increased skills in leadership, openness to trends and ideas, interconnected thinking and agility.

  • The agency, much more than a simple idea factory. CMOs are no longer looking only for creative agencies, but also for strategic partners with critical thinking, a proactive attitude and the ability to innovate and generate impact.

  • Efficiency above all. Above all, marketing processes must be effective. The impact will follow.
